James Edwards - Classical Guitarist
These are instruments I've either owned or have passed through my hands at some point. Most plucked string instruments before 1800 had some kind of intricate soundhole decoration, usually called a rosette. As they are quite beautiful and people are always curious about them, I thought I would feature rosettes in the photos. All of these lutes and early guitars are much lighter in weight than the modern guitar, and have a more delicate and transparent tone.
